On July 4th and 5th of 1999 Northern Minnesota, the Superior National Forest, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Quetico Provincial Park experienced the "Storm Of the Century." The record setting winds and rains that followed devastated much of the BWCAW at the peak of the camping season. Campers were capsized, hurled through the air, crushed under trees and pinned under their canoes. The book includes stories from 60 groups trapped by the storm, most came within inches of death. There were probably 2500 campers in the wilderness that day. An estimated 300 to 400 groups were in the path of the storm. Their stories, often tragic, sometimes humorous needed to be told.
